Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed as a tribute to Stan Laurel, born Arthur Stanley Jefferson, who lived in Bishop Auckland. There is a statue of Stan in Bishop Auckland which is situated on the site where the theatre owned by his parents once stood. The actor, writer, comedian, entertainer and film director was born in 1890 and sadly died age 74 in 1965 suffering a heart attack. He was world famous and brought much joy to millions of people.

 

The cache is not hidden at the posted co-ordinates. 

We would advise cachers not to attempt this cache alone.

The posted co-ordinates will take you to a statue of Stan which was built in 2008 in memory of Stan.

The waypoints will take you to places relating to Stan Laurel and you will need to gather information from there to work out the final co-ordinates.

The House, number 66 Princes Street, is where Stan lived in Bishop Auckland. There is a plaque above the door which you may find an interesting read.

The Church, St Peters, is where Stan was baptised,

The Pub, named after Stan, his birth name was Arthur Stanley Jefferson.

1) The Statue - Measure the height of the base of the statue on the right hand side in inches and then add 1 = AB

2) The Church - How many vertical bars are there on the gates to the church yard including the frame? Minus 2 = DE

3) The House - How many rows of paving slabs are there between his front door and the road not including the curb stone? = F

4) The Pub - How many parking spaces are there on the road outside the front of the pub? Minus 10 = C
