Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Berks Explorers Seeking Tupperware (aka BEST) Geo-Art series. This series was created to teach Geocacher's about Berks County, and some of it's interesting facts, places, people and heritage. Once all 55 caches are found, your Geo-Art reward will be completed. Although all caches are hidden near the Lake Ontelaunee Reservoir, it is not at these posted coordinates - no swimming is required to obtain any cache in this series *smile*

BEST Geo-Art: S02/34

Adamstown, Spring Township, Berks County, PA

Adamstown is a borough in Lancaster County which has grown into Berks County. It was initially founded on 4 July 1761 by William Addams on the site of a former village of native Americans, and Addams named the community "Addamsburry". The community was incorporated as a borough on 2 April 1850.

The town promotes itself as the "antiques capital of the United States" because it attracts many antiques dealers and collectors. Adamstown is home to the Stoudt's Brewery, Pennsylvania's first microbrewery, which was established here in 1987. The town is also home to the US's oldest hat manufacturer, the Bollman Hat Company, which was established in 1868.

Stoudt's Brewery is one of the commonwealth's first microbreweries, having been started in 1987 by Ed and Carol Stoudt.

The Kagerise Store and House were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

According to the 2010 census, how much of the population of Adamstown actually lived in Berks County?

A. None (N 40° 29.312 W 075° 53.969)
B. 17 people (N 40° 29.318 W 075° 53.961)
C. 178 people (N 40° 29.324 W 075° 53.969)
D. 1,789 people (N 40° 29.324 W 075° 53.953)

Note: Adamstown is located at N 40 14.500, W 76 03.467.

Note:  This cache has the hunting attribute selected. Hunters wear orange, and when the time is right, and so should you. During hunting season, it is best to do this series on a Sunday. The majority of the cache containers are hidden within 10 - 20 feet from the trail. Since these caches are hidden in the woods, you will encounter things like wildlife, poison ivy, bugs, ticks, etc. That is just part of geocaching in the great outdoors. Good Luck.

Please note that GC4GQMT - Cache Quest #10: The Final Quest and GC45V8Q - Cache Quest #9 A Questers Pilgrimage were archived to make room for this BEST Geo-Art geocache.  Thanks Rentell.
