In Wiltshire, England, in 1857, our great- great- great-grandfather Henry and two of his brothers got caught poaching the "King's deer"! The penalty for this offense was getting sent to live in Australia. Before this could be enforced however, Henry and his brothers, with their families, emigrated to Canada. Henry settled in the area of St. Williams, where he farmed 100 acres, and had 8 children.
158 years later, Henry's descendents are still mostly living in South-western Ontario. We feel fortunate that Canada is our "home and native land"! Happy birthday, Canada!
