Geocache Description:

This cache is in celebration of Canada's 148th birthday. It was placed at this location to be near flag poles flying our beautiful national flag. Our maple leaf flag is 50 years old this year!

In Wiltshire, England, in 1857, our great- great- great-grandfather Henry and two of his brothers got caught poaching the "King's deer"! The penalty for this offense was getting sent to live in Australia. Before this could be enforced however, Henry and his brothers, with their families, emigrated to Canada. Henry settled in the area of St. Williams, where he farmed 100 acres, and had 8 children.

158 years later, Henry's descendents are still mostly living in South-western Ontario. We feel fortunate that Canada is our "home and native land"! Happy birthday, Canada!

This container is located at the top of the river bank, so please retrieve it carefully and, when you return it, kindly replace its camouflage. We request "Canada-themed" swag only for this cache, please.
