Quite a while ago there used to be caches in this park but they have all been archived. This is a nice park for walking, picnicing and spending the day with family.

Kokubunji is an urban city that understands the importance of greenery and water and has a venerable history as evidenced by the nearby Musashino Archeological dig.
The town has a deep relationship with the railroad. At one time, the national railroad had a rail transportation school in the area. The technology and schools learned in the school still live on today in the modern JR Rail Company. This monument was erected by the enthusiasm of those who studied and worked here as a symbol of the steam engine.

国分寺市は、由緒ある歴史と武蔵野の面影を残す住宅都市として、また水と緑に彩られた文化都市として発展してまいりました。
更に、鉄道との関連が深い町でもります。かつてこのあたり一帯には、旧国鉄の中央鉄道学園があり数多くの人がここて学び、その技術が現在のJRに引き継かれています。これを後世に形として伝えたいと願う関係者の熱意により、ここに鉄道のシンボルともいうべき熱気機関車の動輪をモチーフとした記念碑が設置されました。
