Geocache Description:

This brings you to the sign remembering the railway stop of Dalzell.

Dalzell came to be in 1909 when the Canadian Northern Railway built a branch line between Brandon and Regina. It was to be a divisional point and was surveyed as a town site but railway officials decided to back it up one stop east and make Kipling the divisional point instead. Dalzell had a store, grain elevators, a house for the agent, a bunk house for the section men and stock yards. There was a station but no station agent so if you wanted to take the train it was a do it yourself flag stop. The elevator was built by the the British North American Elevator Company and was struck by lightening and burnt. They rebuilt and then sold to the Sask. Pool in 1928. The demolition of the elevator in 1989 ended Dalzell.
