I ❤ NY
I was born and raised in Bronx NY, I lived there for 29 years. I remember seeing the Subway trains covered from top to bottom with Graffiti murals, people Breakdancing on the sidewalks, the Bronx is the birthplace of the Hip Hop culture. The South Bronx was known as the Burnt Down Bronx because of all the old abandon buildings some were left half demolished. The name changed to the Boogie Down Bronx as the Rap culture grew. There are hundreds of different "Hoods" in the Bronx, I grew up in the Kingsbridge section. When you met someone from a different section, usually the best way to tell them where you were from was to say what Subway Line/Station you lived by, for me it was the 1 train (231st street)
