The town of Addington is named after the first postmaster,James P. Addington. The post office was established on January 8, 1896. Peak population of Addington was 1000 people in 1915. Since that time, Addington population has slowly declined. The cemetery has been in use since at least 1893. Several graves predate Oklahoma statehood as well.
The grounds are well groomed and there have been several improvements made by citizens of the town.
