This is a WHERIGO cache. To find it, you need to download the accompanying Wherigo Cartridge to a compatible device and play it. The cartridge will lead you to the cache location. GPS receivers that can play the Wherigo carts include the Garmin Colorado, the Garmin Oregon, the Garmin Nuvi 500/550 or a GPS-enabled PocketPC. If you are using a GPS-enabled PocketPC you will need the Wherigo player.
Additionally, Wherigo can also be played on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch using the Wherigo app or on an Android phone with the WhereYouGo app.
Welcome to the new and improved Clear Lake Area Paddle Series. A variety of new containers have been placed in new locations, and the entire series has been renumbered to help eliminate confusion on the series. Caches north of the Bay Area Bridge will have a N designation and south of the bridge will have a S for the designation (i.e., #7 N CLAPS, or #46 S CLAPS).
This series extends from the headwaters of Armand Bayou all the way to Clear Lake. It is designed so caches would be obtained by paddling (kayak, canoe, raft, etc.). Much of the bayou areas are very wild and have lots of wildlife, including many varieties of small and large birds, alligators, turtles, snakes, deer, and small mammals. The lake is more open but also very scenic. Bring your camera on this series! Gas engines are not allowed in any of the bayous or in most of the lake.
Sound like fun? It should be! But before you attempt this series, please consider the following:
- You will get wet, and possibly soaked, doing this series.
- Bring a couple gallon-sized ziplock baggies -- one for your GPSr (easy to operate in a large bag), one for your camera and phone, and one for anything else you don't want to get wet. Trap a little air in them and they float should they fall out of the boat.
- Bring sunscreen!
- Bring a hat - especially in summer.
- Bring lots of bottled water!
- Wear a PFD / Lifejacket.
- Bring your camera... but don't drop it!
- Bring your cell phone... just in case.
- No motors are allowed in Armand Bayou and most of Mud Lake. Only the southern-most part of Mud Lake is accessible by motorized boat.
- Review the reference documents about the series! These are linked below on the cache page.
There are no geocaching.com attributes for alligators. Watch out for alligators! They are out there... somewhere. You may not see them, but they'll see you. DO NOT FEED or pester the alligators!
Do not think that because you've never been in a kayak or canoe that you can't do these fun caches! The original series saw quite a few cachers who had never paddled before, and many now own their own kayaks. The learning curve is minimal. Feel free to contact me through my geocaching.com profile if you need ideas, help, or advice on how to get started.

CLAPS Reverse Cache
A Wherigo with a difference.
This Wherigo converts your player into a "Reverse-Cache-Box". This box will continually tell you the distance to the final cache, but not the direction.
You can start your search anywhere in the world. All you will need is a Smartphone or GPS device which is capable of playing Wherigo.
The Cartridge from -Waldmeister- is available to download HERE. His "The Reverse Cache" is the original cache.
To play this Wherigo cartridge, it is your task to find the cache only with the information about your distance to the final location. Try to use your Reverse Cache box as few times as possible. All the instructions and information you need to complete this cartridge is contained within it. The cartridge is multilingual.
This cache should remind you of the game played as a child where something was hidden and as you looked for it your parents would shout "Warmer" when you got closer and "Colder" when you got further. You are waiting for the Wherigo to shout "Hot".
To start you will have to type these codes into your player:
516359
214001
256029
Take the code with you on your quest, you might need it if there is a problem with your player.
This is optional and not a must to log a found - when you reach the final, you will be given some statistics. It would be nice if you write the details into your log and also post the number of times you have calculated the distance.
You will also get a personal password which you can enter into the Codegenerator if you select "create" instead of "play" at the start of the cartridge. Save this code. Then if you want to, you can build your own reverse cache where ever you want in the world (Just tell -Waldmeister- about your plans!).
Please do not write any hints into your log about how and where you found the cache or post photos (especially geo-tagged ones!) that might give the final location away.
Good Luck!!!
Congratulations to RRM10 for being FTF!
