Denis Benjamin Kirwan arrived as a guest of His Majesty King George III in 1816 on board the Hayeston. Shortly after his arrival as a convict in Australia, Denis petitioned Governor Macquarie for a Ticket of Leave. On 16 November 1818 he married Jessica Turnbull, the sixth child born to successful Portland Head Coromandel pioneers John and Ann Turnbull. Governor Macquarie promised Kirwan a grant of forty acres of land in 1821, which he named ‘Kirwan’s Retreat’.

A leading layman with the Wesleyan Church, Kirwan went on to hold the position of District Constable at Portland Head as well as Ordinary Constable and pound keeper. In 1834 he purchased the 200 acre ‘Waterloo’ from his father-in-law and had begun investing in a portable flour mill in order to process his own as well as his neighbours’ crops into flour. This enterprise was such a resounding success that by late 1839 Kirwan had commissioned a steam engine to be constructed for a new flour mill to be built next to the creek on his property. By 1840 the mill was in full operation and operated as the Portland Head Steam Mill.

Dr Fiaschi purchased ‘Kirwan’s Retreat’ from the Kirwan family in 1882 and established his Tizzana Vineyards. More recent developments in 2000 included the establishment of the five star Tizzana Winery Bed & Breakfast…and in 2015 Ebenezer’s newest hotel has been introduced for those discerning trackables of the geocaching world.

Please note: This cache has been placed on private property with the permission of the owners and is for travel bugs and other trackable items.

Don't forget to properly lock the hotel door on the way out and replace the key from whence it came from.

For the EG-Q#25 Final Puzzle, what is the only number to appear in the alpha numeric code located on the front of the cache container.
