Air Marshall William Avery "Billy" Bishop, was born in Owen Sound Ontario (8 February 1894 – 11 September 1956) and was a Canadian First World War flying ace, officially credited with 72 victories, making him the top Canadian ace of the war. During the Second World War, Bishop was instrumental in setting up and promoting the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan.
With 50+ years of combined service the military has a soft spot in both our hearts!
