Bearberry was a friend of ours. Although he was involved in many activities we knew him as a Geocacher. He and his wife "the Cub" were mountain cachers, happiest in the hills, although they would not pass up any cache, especially if there was a FTF at stake. I was honoured to share a few caching adventures with him, sometimes just the two of us, sometimes with the Cub, Mrs BVPete and others. They were all very enjoyable, strenuous undertakings and well worth the effort. I placed this cache as a memorial to him in a spot I think he would have liked. Somewhat elevated with nice views, no trails and another excuse to go wandering in the hills. Bearberry's wife, the Cub, has carried on caching using the same account.
Go in peace my friend, you will be missed by many friends and family.
Route Map for Bearberry's Cache
Bearberry's cache requires a short but steep hike, if you use my route and include the nearby "A Box for Big TBs" cache the cumulative elevation gain will be about 160 meters with a total distance of about 1.8 kms. Park at the suggested spot and head up a drainage gully to a col then go right for "A Cache for Bearberry" or left for the "A Box for Big TBs" cache. There are 24 finders cards, which reveal how Bearberry was able to travel to caches so quickly.
