ITA: Il Terrapieno di Cagliari è una passeggiata panoramica scoperta che percorre tutta via Regina Elena, un lungo viale alberato sul quale si affacciano prestigiose ville in stile Liberty. Inizia in piazza Giovanni Marghinotti, nei pressi del Bastione di Saint Remy e dei Giardini Sotto le Mura, e termina all’ingresso dei Giardini Pubblici della Galleria Comunale d’Arte. La passeggiata, che costeggia ad ovest la cinta muraria del quartiere storico di Castello e ad est il complesso abitativo di Villanova, è uno dei punti panoramici più suggestivi della città di Cagliari, dal quale è possibile osservare alcune delle opere più significative della street art locale (vedi "Graffitti road"' cache) .
Il progetto di una strada percorribile anche dalle carrozze, lungo i piedi della fortificazione cittadina, risale alla prima metà del XIX secolo, ma la sua forma definitiva fu apprezzabile solo intorno agli anni ’30. Per evitare che il traffico di autoveicoli crei disturbo ai visitatori che vogliono godere della passeggiata panoramica del Terrapieno, questa è stata costruita ad una quota di 1,50 metri rispetto al piano stradale di viale Regina Elena.
ENG: The Terrapieno of Cagliari is a open scenic walk which go through Via Regina Elena, a long avenue of trees on which overlook prestigious Art Nouveau villas. It begins in Piazza Giovanni Marghinotti, near the Bastion of Saint Remy and the Gardens Under the Walls, and ends at the entrance of the Public Gardens of the Municipal Art Gallery. The walk, which go throug the west walls of the historic district of "Castello" and east the housing complex of Villanova, is one of the most evocative views of the city of Cagliari, from which you can see some of the most significant works of the local street art (see for example "Graffitti road" cache).
The project of this place, where even the carriages could pass, along the city walls, dates back from the first half of the nineteenth century, but its final form was appreciable only around the '30s. To prevent that the traffic of vehicles creates problems to visitors who want to enjoy the scenic walk of the terrapieno, this was built at a height of 1.50 meters above the street level of Viale Regina Elena.
