If you flush the toilet in Kununurra, this is where the contents will end up. Once the water has been treated it is then flushed into the irrigation channel and either down the river or onto a farm.
400mm of rain fell over three days in Feb/March 2014 and these ponds were apparently millimetres from overflowing into the channel and river.
Easy find over looking some ponds teeming with birds.
