Geocache Description:

This 3 stage multi-cache is not the most suitable for small children. It is part of an "exercise required" series (some hiking and moderate exertion is required to get to this one). It is located in West Branch State Park, on the backside of the dam. Best and alternate parking areas (and the ONLY legal parking) to access this area is listed as additional waypoints off Wayland Road. PLEASE PARK ONLY IN ONE OF THESE TWO AREAS. THERE IS OTHER ROAD ACCESS CLOSE TO THIS CACHE, BUT IT IS NOT A LEGAL PARKING AREA AND RESIDENTS DON'T WANT YOU PARKING THERE... THEY WATCH THE AREA CLOSELY. RESPECT THE AREA AND PARK APPROPRIATELY AND ALL WILL BE WELL FOR CACHING FUN! Please don't bother with this one if you don't want to hike in from the designated parking areas... I've tried to make this series worth your walk!

Staying on trails (wooded paths and mowed meadows) as much as possible is recommended, due to some marshiness in the area. Trails in this area have muddy spots much of the year, so dress your feet accordingly. The main trail begins alongside the West Branch of the Mahoning River. Night caching is NOT allowed. Cache contains paper log only. BYO pen. CLEAR CONDITION WINTER CACHING IS FINE, BUT FOR SAFETY REASONS, THIS ONE IS NOT RECOMMENDED IN CONDITIONS OF SNOW AND ICE. (I'm not yet sure, but this one may be inaccessible during spring rains and snow melt... I'll check it next season).

The 3 stages are all within a tight area, but they are designed to be a fun logistical and physical challenge. This one is designed to be COMPLETELY ACCOMPLISHED WITHOUT GETTING WET (maybe slightly damp or muddy feet, but possibly not even that with careful movements... it is entirely possible in all but high water conditions). The route to accomplish this MAY not be the most direct as the GPS indicates. Study the area. Study the terrain. Plot your logistics carefully. It's not a huge challenge, but it involves some nimble skills. This is a somewhat remote area... PLEASE DON'T TAKE RISKS BEYOND YOUR CONFIDENCE AND ABILITIES. EXCESSIVE RISK SHOULD NOT BE INVOLVED IN THIS ONE. STUDY BEFORE YOU ACT. CACHE SMART... I don't want anyone getting hurt for this smiley!

STAGE 1: When you find this one, there are no game pieces that you need to remove or physically handle... just get a visual on coordinates to the next stage. Enter the coordinates you find and proceed carefully to stage 2.

STAGE 2: Are your feet still dry? Hope so! Again, there are no game pieces that you need to remove or physically handle... just get a visual on coordinates to the next stage. Enter the coordinates you find and proceed carefully to stage 3. It may be helpful to study your terrain from this vantage point and plot your intended route. This leg of the journey is the most challenging and the most difficult to stay dry... but it should be entirely possible. Move carefully!

STAGE 3: Find and sign the log! Please replace just as you found it. Can you get back out with dry feet? Hope you enjoyed the unique challenge and safely completed it! Good job!

I will periodically check the log and will delete online logs if this one is not completed through signing stage 3. Earn your smileys!

NOTE: IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO OVERTURN ANY ROCKS TO COMPLETE THIS ONE!
