Geocache Description:

The classic "Find a Cache on Every Day of the Year" challenge. It takes a minimum of one year to complete...

You see those logs saying “Saved this one for a dot day” and start wondering, what’s a dot day?

A friend tells you to go to Your Profile -> Your Statistics to see a table showing your "Finds for Each Day of the Year ", with every date you’ve cached shown in green.

... but there are so many calendar days I haven’t cached on…?
All those white spaces, a.k.a. dot days, to fill in. The challenge is on…

And a year later (or up to four years later, depending on 29th February) you end up with something like this – Zero Dot Days, hooray!

So maybe it’s time for an Otago challenge cache to reward those who have completed this classic challenge, and an incentive for those who are working towards it.

This wee dot of an islet in Papanui Inlet seems an appropriate hide... you’ll need a kayak. Or else check the tide times and enjoy the eelgrass meadows!

The islet is covered in chest-high bracken, flax, mapou and totara trees. And the occasional bit of lawyer. Clamber up the small cliff on the islet's edge beside the small totara, then head into the bush. You're looking for an unconcealed 2 litre snaplock.

The classic way of completing this challenge cache is to fill in all your dot days, then go to the islet and find the cache. If you sign the cache logbook on your last dot day, you are very welcome to use it as your 366th day find!

Alternatively, you may wish to complete the challenge retrospectively. If so, go to the islet and sign the log anytime you like, logging this online as a "Note" on the day you signed the log. Then fill in all your dot days (NB: the 0 Dot Days cache cannot count as one of these). And finally, log your smiley for the Zero Dot Days Challenge online, dated on the day you filled in your last dot day.

This classic challenge is for classic geocachers, who log their finds online on the same date that they find each cache. For physical caches, the found date is the actual date the geocacher signed the logbook. For virtual caches (earthcaches, virtuals, events, Citos) the found date is the date the geocacher actually visited GZ(the date answers were sent or approved by the CO is not relevant). No need to provide a list of your finds in your log, thankfully - unless your statistics are hidden, in which case attach a snip of your "finds for each day of the year' to your log.
