The Stevens Pass Nordic Center is located on the high and sunny eastern slope of Washington's Central Cascades on US Hwy 2, just five miles east of the alpine resort. They feature over 28 kilometer of machine-groomed trails nestled amongst the Alpine Lakes and Henry M. Jackson Wilderness Areas and the Wenatchee Okanogan National Forest.
Close by the cache is the trail head for Lanham Lake, a small lake under a big mountain, reached by a 1.5 mi trail (1,140’ elevation gain) alongside a pretty creek shaded by old trees. Lanham makes for a good afternoon hike or a nice break from traveling busy US 2.
Lanham Lake is a popular winter snowshoe destination, and is fairly peaceful during the summer.
Visit in June when the lake and creek levels are high and the forest is alive with avian arias.
Please do not over tighten lid as it may ruin the o-ring. Photograph postings are appreciated!
