A series of 11 caches on the bike path connecting two Union County parks.
The 1.45-mile path through Black Brook and Lenape parks crosses parts of Cranford, Kenilworth, Springfield and Union, and it creates another off-road stretch of the East Coast Greenway. Ninety-six miles of the Greenway runs through New Jersey, 60 percent of those off-road. Previously, cyclists had to travel along two busy roads in Kenilworth to get from a bike path at Black Brook park to another at Nomahegan Park, which adjoins Lenape Park.
Greenway signs – an image of two fir trees, one pointed up, one down – marked the route along North 14th Street, with its mix of small industrial plants, houses, and ballfields, and Kenilworth Boulevard, where four lanes of cars cruise past homes.
Now, they’ll be able to stay on a greenway instead of venturing out into some pretty highly-trafficked streets.
