This cache is a result of my attempts to try and find the elusive Hamilton Creek Caves that are supposed to exist in this area. I found a reference to these caves on the park notes for Bunyip State Park management plan (I enjoy a bit of light reading). I came out here a few months ago to try and find the caves, but alas, I couldn't, so I placed a couple of caches Today I was back in the area again, exploring the hills and the gullies but again, no luck. So again, I decided to place some caches.
There is no need to trespass on private property to reach this cache. There is only one way in and out to this cache and that is along Lupton Track. Check out the map below. You can access Lupton track from the corner of Tynong North Road and Camp Road or via Avards Track, which leaves Tynong North Road a bit further south. You cannot gain access to Lupton Track via Weatherhead Hill Tk, Hail Tk or Gregory Tk, these all run through private property. Follow Lupton Track to the intersection with Dingo Ridge Tk, turn left into Dingo Ridge Tk and follow it to this cache. Once near GZ it will require a small diversion off the track to find the cache nestled amongst the rocks.

Please note that only walkers, horse riders or cyclists are allowed along this track. 4WDing and trailbikes are not allowed.
I will be conducting further research and attempting to find these caves again in the future, so if you're interested in helping me, send me a message!
Do not attempt this cache on days of "extreme" or "code red" bushfire rated days and you should seriously consider leaving it alone on days rated as "severe" or even "very high".

LOGGING ETIQUETTE
To place this cache I purchased the cache container, the log book and all the swaps. I also purchased the paint that was used. I spent my own time preparing the container and painting it. I spent time researching a good place to place the cache. Then I hiked in, placed the container thoughtfully and carefully. I then spent further time writing up this cache page before submitting it for publication. Hopefully, you can appreciate the time, money and effort that has been spent to place not just this cache, but all caches. Not to mention the possible time money and effort that the goes into the constant maintenance of these caches for you to find. With that in mind, if you are considering finding this cache, all that I will receive from you is your log. Whilst I will never delete any legitimate log, please consider whether a “Found It” or a “TFTC” log is appropriate return for the amount of effort that is spent in getting this little container out in this spot for you to find. |
