Completed passports can be turned in at the Sundance Museum or you can mail it in to claim your coins! Devils Tower, WY is a 5114 ft.above sea level laccolith rock located in Crook County Wyoming. It rises dramatically 1267 feet above the surrounding area and is a part of the Bear Lodge Mountains, part of the Black Hills. It also is a part of a National Monument established on Sept. 24, 1906 and governed by the National Park Service. The Lakota indians called it "Bear Lodge" and it is considered a sacred worship site by many Native Americans. In 1977 a movie "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" used the formation as the location of its final scenes. Hence the name of our cache "Close Encounters" We have also dropped a travel bug here that we found in Utah that is on a quest looking for aliens. This is a good place to start! The cache is near a parking spot in direct view of the tower. It is not on the monument grounds.
