Three little monkeys went for a stroll,
Searching for a place where the grass would always grow.
They found it!
They found it!
A forest big and tall.
And hiding ‘neath the branches were the Russian nesting dolls.
Five little dolls hid beneath the trees,
And set a trap for foolish little monkeys.
The monkeys played, the monkeys sang,
And soon felt hungry.
Where was the food?
Where could it be?
To their joy they found one basket,
Full of bananas for you and me!
But the basket was hanging from a branch,
It swung in the air, it tangled and danced.
Monkeys tried and monkeys failed,
To grab the treats so close to reach!
“Can we help you?” Asked the dolls.
“No!” Said the greedy monkeys. “We will be fine!”
“Alright then.” And the dolls watched as the tried and tried.
“Oh fine! Can you help us?” The monkeys finally begged. “We will give you a banana?”
“Just one? There are five of us.” The dolls asked and the monkeys whined.
“There are three of us and just one basket!” They protested.
“The basket has many bananas.” The dolls said.
“If there are enough you can have five.” The monkeys finally said.
The dolls laughed and jumped upon each other, reaching up and up!
Biggest on the bottom and littlest on the top,
And pulled down the basket of bananas for the greedy monkeys.
“Five! Three! But there is one left! What shall we do?” They wondered at the bananas.
“Put it back in the basket for the next to come.” Said the littlest doll. “It is a nice thing to do!”
So they put back the last banana and left the basket on the ground.
Was it eaten?
