WELCOME TO MEGA PIRATEMANIA 8 (2015)

The Mega event that gathers together Pirates from all over the globe for one weekend of fun.

Born from a small camping weekend this has naturally evolved in to the UK's largest reocurring anual event.!

Piratemania 8 (2015) July 24-25-26. Bakewall Showground.The Showground, Bakewell, Derbyshire, DE45 1AQ . Main Event Day Saturday 25th July 10am until 6pm. The Best and Biggest annual UK Camping event. Now in its 9th year. Aaaaarrrrrrrrrrrr Please be aware we are taking all the camping bookings. Piratemania is officially England’s biggest annual Geocaching event. The whole ethos is good, honest piratey fun for all ages. The first event in Europe to have achieved Mega status through organic growth, it’s a testament to each and every pirate that attends that we keep on growing, year on year. Expect the unexpected! The true spirit of Piratemania is best enjoyed in full pirate clobber, in a tent or caravan, with a glass of rum in your hand!


Bakewell is a small market town and civil parish in the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire, England, well known for the local confection Bakewell Pudding (often mistaken for the Bakewell Tart). It is located on the River Wye. A market was established in 1254, and Bakewell developed as a trading centre. The Grade I listed five-arched bridge over the River Wye at Bakewell was constructed in the 13th century, and is one of the few surviving remnants of this earlier period. Bakewell pudding is a jam pastry with an egg and ground almond enriched filling. It is not to be confused with Bakewell tart, which is a completely different confection, made with shortcrust pastry, an almond topping and a sponge and jam filling. The origins of the pudding are not clear; however, the generally accepted story is that it was first made by accident in 1820 when the landlady of the White Horse Inn (now called the Rutland Arms Hotel) left instructions for her cook to make a jam tart with an egg and almond paste pastry base. The cook, instead of stirring the eggs and almond paste mixture into the pastry, spread it on top of the jam.When cooked the jam rose through the paste. The result was successful enough for it to become a popular dish at the Inn, and commercial variations, usually with icing sugar on top, have spread the name. If you don’t wish to camp but plan to stay in the town there are 25 B&B’s/Hotels. And many coffee/snack shops and plenty of fish &Chip shops that are very popular. The town is close to the tourist attractions of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall..

The return of team games.. Be loyal to your captain and collect as many Doubloons for your team as possible. Crazy games to collect more Doubloons. Tug-O-War, Walk the plank, best dressed Ship (tent), best Pirate and much more to come. Evening entertainments and a real ale bar. And don't forget lots of caches,side events, FLASHMOB and general MAYHEM!!

Upon Arrival come and visit a member of the team for a hearty welcome, and be pressganged into one of the captains teams. But who will be the captains? Time will tell :)
