Geocache Description:

Tourists regularly visit Anglesea Golf Club to view the many kangaroos grazing on the fairways. This cache is an easy drive by, but do stop to check out the roos, best viewing times late afternoon or early morning.

Entry to the course for kangaroo viewing is prohibited so I placed this cache by the boundary so you can collect a cache and pretend you are watching the kangaroos. Drive around the streets around the perimeter and see how many kangaroos you can count.

Kangaroos are the largest marsupial mammals. The kangaroos at Anglesea are the Eastern Grey. They are usually active from late afternoon until early morning, although I have had a kangaroo bound up my driveway in the town and graze and sleep all day in my back block.

Many of the kangaroos on the golf course have ear tags and/or collars with names, but I don't recommend getting too close. Zoologists from Melbourne University have been conducting studies of the kangaroos since 2005, ranging from population surveys, movements, birth control and parasites.

The golf club runs kangaroo tours in a golf cart for visitors to see more of the 200 kangaroos from 10 am to 4pm from the club house.

The cache is a small green cylindrical container with room for small swaps. BYOP
