Accessible by kayak or paddle board only, much of the sand spit is also a refuge for the endangered snowy plover. There are still plenty of beach access corridors. As long as one respects the boundaries it is easy to get stranded for a day, or perhaps longer. Such is the allure of the wild and untamed Central Coast.
You are searching for a pill-bottle sized cache amongst the dunes. It is located well away from the protected snowy plover habitat, and above the high tide line. It is possible one of the many strange and wonderous natives of the area will be there to greet you when you arrive.
