Geocache Description:

View from Ciarán Jones Bridge

River Liffey at Ballysmuttan (Ciaran Jones) Bridge
The River Liffey dominates this area, sweeping round from the Ballnabrock(e)y area, passing under Ballysmuttan Bridge, and receiving Scurlock's Brook. There is a popular viewing point to the left of the photo, with road space for parking and a shingle "beach." The bridge was overtopped and damaged in the floods of 24 October 2011, in which a Garda Siochana officer, Ciaran Jones, lost his life while working to warn people of the hazard. As noted on a plaque on the bridge, it was subsequently dedicated in his memory.
