This cache is a quick and easy two-stage multi. The posted co-ordinates take you to a post road plaque. Bring your own writing stick. There is parking nearby. It's only a short drive between the plaque and the cache container.
Directions from #9: Go north through the village of Hochfeld until the next mile road and turn west. This is P.R. #201. Continue west for three miles until you get to Osterwick.
The lectern is located at the community centre (formerly the school). As the Post Road continues west, the Pembina Hills become more and more apparent and trees become more common. In 1922, Victoria Hayward wrote in "Romantic Canada" how the houses were set back from the road with trees camouflaging the houses.
She also wrote about the village herdsman: "The piper starts from one end of the village, blowing the horn or bugle,as he goes down the length of the street... When he has passed the entire length he turns around, and the cows come out of the first gate, the second, the third, as fast as the rats followed the Piper of Hamlin long ago".
At the posted coordinates is the plaque. All the information required can be read from the plaque.
The cache is located at N 49 05.ABC W 097 59.DEF
ABC = 315 minus the Number of initial families that settled in Osterwick
DEF = Amount of fire damage reported at Gerhard Peters minus 1230
