Geocache Description:

Sharpen your pencils and take a step back in history to solve this fairly easy field puzzle.

Posted coordinates will take you to a large stone monument in the field near New Salem Baptist Church, which was organized in 1824. The monument was "erected in memory of those listed below, many of whom were the founing fathers and mothers of this community and this nation."

You will use information found on this monument to calculate the location of this cache, which is within easy walking distance.

Final coordinates: N36 57.ABC W084 42.DEF

The first name on the monument is for a man who is listed in the "Reg. Inf. Revolutionary War, S.C."

Take the last two digits of his birth year and add to the last two digits of his death year. Subtract 1 from this sum to solve for ABC.

(You can also get these dates from a flat marker just west of the large sign near where you will park, just above the ditchline. I'm not sure if this is his gravesite.)

Next, take Roger Carson's birth year and divide by the number of names that have the letter "b" in front of their birth year.

From this total, subtract the first three numbers in Absolum Hines' birth year.

Your answer is DEF.

As with any KSQ cache, do not attempt to search for this one after dark.
