Geocache Description:

Buskett is a woodland area which has a cooling charm in summer in the shade of the trees and a lovely green area in winter.

This multi-cache will help you explore some parts of Buskett which might otherwise pass unnoticed. We hope that you’ll love doing this cache and visiting the various stages as much as we do. It would be best to wear trekking shoes.

One should park the car close to Stage 1 and then walk around the other stages.

The first stage of this multicache will take you to St. Lucia chapel. During my childhood this chapel used to be open once every week for mass.

A = number of coats of arms on the chapel

After visiting St. Lucia chapel one needs to go to the back gate of the Verdala Palace found at Stage 2.

Verdala Palace was built by Grandmaster Hugues Loubenx de Verdalle in 1586 on the site of a hunting lodge previously owned by Grandmaster Jean Parisot de Valette. It is now the official summer residence of the President of Malta.

The Palace is not open for the public but the chapel found inside the Palace grounds is open for mass every Sunday morning at 8am. As a child I used to attend catechism lessons here with the other kids from the area. Anyone wanting to visit the Palace grounds and the chapel inside and appreciate its charm can do so at that time. Kids can also enjoy seeing the deer in the Palace ditch.

B = the number of points on the back gate of the Verdala Palace

One should then proceed around the Palace wall on the road to the right of the gate and take the footpath found to the right of the third gate encountered.

Then Stage 3 will take you to a quiet picnic spot away from the usually visited places at Buskett Woods. In my early teens I used to love ‘exploring’ this area of the woods.

C = the number marked in red paint (PC) on the bark of the biggest pine tree (the marking was there already – we would not pollute the environment to place a cache! smiley)

Then walk away from the picnic spot and follow the path down to Trailhead 1. From there proceed to GZ by taking the path that takes you to the lowest part of the valley.

In this valley I have spent long hours playing with my boots on splashing in the water and watching frogs and tadpoles.

GZ = N (4+A+B)° (B+C+18).(523+A+C)' E (010+A)° (B-3).(120-C)'

Please upload photos of the cache. :)
