Geocache Description:

This cache is located on the Vassar Farms property, a 527 acre plot right in Poughkeepsie.  The Vassar Farm property has miles of well marked and maintained trails that will take you through woods and fields, past ponds, streams and marshes.  You will be treated to a vast variety of wildlife from deer to beaver, turtles to a multitude of bird species.  We have been given permission to use this area for our game, treat it with respect and enjoy what it has to offer.

This cache is located on the Red trail.  Sontarans are a warrior race.  There is nothing more glorious to them than war and the possibility of being killed in battle.  They have been fighting with their deadly enemies, the Rutans, for 50,000 years and stop for nothing in their way.  During this long war, they have a huge need to produce more numbers of warriors than their enemies.  To this end, the Sontarans try to convert the Earth to an atmosphere suitable for their needs.  They enlist a young, but disillusioned, genious to help them.  He creates the Atmos system that gets installed into vehicles to make life easier, but it is just a plot to fill the air with poisonous gases.  On of their only weeknesses is a probic vent at the back of their neck.  Cold and calculating, they are a force to be reckoned with.

The Vassar Farm property is open from sunrise to sunset. Coordinates for parking and trailheads can be found on GC54JTT (Little Blue Box) Dogs are allowed and must be leashed. There is a trail map on a kiosk as the main parking area or on their web site at http://farm.vassar.edu/map/ Bikes are allowed, but NOT on the Dark Blue, Green, or Black trails. I wouldn't recommend the use of bikes on the Yellow or Red trails either unless you consider yourself an excellent rider.
