I have very happy memories of the "field trips" I used to do with Pershore Camera Club (sadly defunct), which is what used to get me out and about exploring the landscape before caching came into my life. I was into black and white photography and used to develop the films at home, sloshing trays of chemicals around on the kitchen worktop with a sheet of black polythene taped over the window. Whilst I've long since gone digital and don't use film any more, I still have a deep affection for those days of doing everything the hard way.
The cache is placed just off the Cotswold Way, at a glorious viewpoint. There are loads of paths you can use to approach it but probably the easiest is to park at the Roman Villa car park (free) and follow the path through the woods. There may be livestock in the fields en route. Alternatively you can come down the short and steep way from Buckholt Road on top of the ridge.
The Roman Villa (top), wood anemone (centre) and source of the Horsbere Brook (bottom).
If you want to (it's not obligatory), please post any photographs which you took while visiting the cache – either the lovely view from the cache site itself or anything else you photographed on the way. Depending which way you come, you may walk past the Tile Well (source of the Horsbere Brook) and Great Witcombe Roman Villa, and there are also plenty of photo opportunities in the woods and meadows, which have abundant wild flowers, deer and babbling streams. Don't be shy if you're just taking snaps on a smartphone – all are welcome. I just ask that you avoid posting photos of the cache itself or its actual location.
