Geocache Description:

This cache is located at The Old Hudson Township Burying Ground in Hudson, OH

Established in 1808 by the city of Hudson's founded, David Hudson and Benjamin Whedon.  This is the oldest existing cemetery in Hudson and Summit County.
Ruth Mills Brown (1772-1808) wife of Owen Brown and mother of abolitionist leader John Brown (1800-1859) was the first burial here.  Also at rest here are many of the town's pioneers including founder David Hudson.  The last burial was in 1900.

The cemetery sits on the within the property of Western Reserve Academy, but is owned by the city of Hudson, and is open to the public from dawn to dusk.  WRA owns David Hudson's home which sits at 318 N. Main Street and is the oldest home in Summit County.  You can see it from the gates of the cemetery if you stand at the gates facing North towards the large brick building with the white pillars (Burton D. Morgan Hall) and look northwest.  It is a white two-story home with a white split rail fence next to St. Mary's Church.  Please do not go on to the property of the David Hudson House since it is a private residence.

I must inform you that while you are looking for the cache and enjoying the natural beauty and history within the fenced in area, please understand that you are near a school and should not wander to any of the buildings for a closer look because the staff or security does keep an eye out for strangers to the campus, so stay on Chapel street and you'll be fine.

Tread lightly, soak in the history, and enjoy your journey
