The theme for the 11th edition of the Midwest Open Geocaching Adventure is meant to reflect the training and determination that it takes to be a top-notch geocacher. For this cache, we decided to deviate from the theme just to provide a little diversion while MOGA competitors are waiting for the competitions to start.
Welcome to Southeastern Ohio, Athens, and Strouds Run State Park. Athens is the home of Ohio University, the oldest public institution of higher learning outside the original 13 colonies. Athens is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. As such, the terrain for our caches will be a bit more challenging than previous MOGA events. In addition to our tribute caches, the organizers for MOGA 2014 placed 100 permanent caches in Athens County parks (mostly Strouds Run). The majority of the placements were chosen to match the overall difficulty of the punch competitions. However, a smaller set were placed in close proximity to well-established trails giving all attendees the opportunity to get a few "hike and grab" finds. Please pay careful attention to the terrain rating before attempting any MOGA cache.
All caches placed for MOGA 2014 will be monitored and maintained by A-team (OH).
