Arizona Highway 87 runs from Second Mesa to Picacho, Arizona. The portion from Payson to McDowell Road in Mesa is known as the Beeline Highway, and is particularly scenic.
This is a multi-stage Letterbox which runs entirely along the northbound lanes of the Beeline. Each stage has the coordinates for both the next stage and the recommended parking spot (see waypoints for parking and stage description). All stages are amenable to any vehicle IF the roads are dry. There will be a couple of moderate climbs, but not too bad (for an OPJim cache). Long pants, good footwear, and proper hydration is essential. Due to broken glass I do not recommend dogs at stage 1. I recommend you have paper and pencil for recording both stage coordinates and parking areas.
The final stage is the longest hike. Follow the road, then work up the hill. It's not hidden where you expect, but should be reasonable to find. The Beeline highway can be very busy on weekends especially between Memorial Day and Labor Day. I don't recommend trying for the stages when the highway is busy due to difficulty exiting and entering traffic.
This is a letterbox hybrid. In addition to the normal logbook and trade items, it also contains a letterbox stamp, inkpad, and stamp book. Please do not remove the stamp, ink pad, or stamp book. THEY ARE NOT TRADE ITEMS!
The final has coordinates in the logbook and inside the lid. Once you have found this cache and South Beeline Letterbox, you will be ready for Ultimate Beeline Letterbox.
