The Vernon Electric Light Company started operation in 1890. 36 lights were located in different parts of the city. Over 200 incandescent burners were in private homes. The plant was located off Alabama St at the end of Murphy St, part of the structure still stands on Murphy Street.
I talked to the home owner of the home on the left on Murphy St and he was told that his home was where the electric company use to be. If you drive by slow (which I hope you do) and look at his porch, you will see a large piece of concerte, he said that was is where the generater use to seat. I am not for sure about this info, but he was friendly. He knew about Geocaching and I told him that I was placing a cache at the end of the street.
The cache - it is placed right behind the first short wall you come to. Park at the end of Murphy St and walk straight and you will see the some of the walls of the remaining building. The cache is large and is NOT hidden. I started the cache with all things with the word 'light' in them. You will see, if you can trade up a 'light' product for a 'light' product that would be cool, but I know that is hard.
*I would say do not try to find this cache at night. Thanks
Enjoy! If you like to find'em, please hide'em
