The cache is a micro - 35mm sized container – bring your own pen and please only use one line.
The cache is overlooking the disused WW2 Portballintrae Firing Ranges - there were 2 Firing Ranges and 2 large concrete blocks on which warning flags would have been flown when shooting was taking place. On one of the blocks there are 5 bullet strike marks…oops! This would suggest that further training was required!! You can see the block from the cache location but you need binoculars to see the bullet strikes.
opposite the field gate you can still make out the raised area and bunds at the end of the field where the targets were placed.
Mrs DucInc can remember passing by here in her early teens and the red flags flying to show that the range was in use and seeing the targets standing on the range.
The cache is a quick cache n dash with parking almost beside the cache.
Please replace the container very carefully and tuck it well into its hiding place to ensure that it is well hidden from passing Wombles. (We think the road-side cleaners got the last 2 caches but they do a great job with little thanks so we won’t complain too much).
The location is wheelchair accessible and the cache should be accessible with a small stretch.
FTF: Congratulations to sharmon12 on the FTF on Valentines Day!
