Welcome to the latest craze in geocaching…..geoart. This geoart series represents the Pittsburgh Pirates team logo.
All of the containers are 5”x1” soda pop bottle preforms painted black with yellow lids. Please replace them as you found them. You’re more than welcome to log copy and paste TFTC logs on all of the pages if you wish to do so. If you’d like to share your caching story, there’s a letterbox cache placed to find just for that purpose. Please leave the stamp in the cache for others to use. The letterbox is for trading swag and dropping trackables off as well, don’t leave anything in the other cache containers please.
The coordinates posted above ARE NOT THE CORRECT COORDINATES and you must answer the question below and use your answer to replace the letters. This will give you the location of the actual container. Again, THE POSTED COORDINATES ARE WRONG!!!
You’ll be walking through PA State Game Lands so please follow all rules and regulations which require wearing 250 square inches of BLAZE ORANGE during the hunting seasons (Sept – Jan). PA State Game Commission frequents the area so please wear orange FOR YOUR SAFETY. During deer season, both archery and rifle, the area is FULL of hunters so to prevent any accidents, please follow the rules.
Please be aware that the cell phone service is sketchy at times in the area, phones constantly search for service and use of your phones GPS may cause the battery to drain fast therefore a handheld GPSr is recommended. Depending on your plan of attack and parking strategy, you’ll be walking over 6 miles so come prepared. Bring snacks and water if you wish but please take what you bring and practice CITO whenever possible. An extra set of batteries for your GPS wouldn’t hurt either.
Some of the caches are placed off of a hard packed dirt road with a steep hill that IS NOT MAINTAINED IN THE WINTER so please use caution. There are parking areas listed ON THE LETTERBOX PAGE which include waypoints for both top of the hill parking and another route to drive to the bottom parking. Again, please use caution!!! The trail goes through the woods so there’s a chance of poison ivy, ticks, thorns, and most importantly hunters.
