Geocache Description:

Tire Man

Nearby the small town of Bruce, Mississippi, at coordinates N34° 00.315 W089° 21.073, is a strange and unusual 'man' that has been at that spot for the last few years.

He resides on the south side of the little gravel road, just west of Highway 9, just a few feet away from parking.

He is the Tire Man and he stands about 20' tall and is actually a sculpture of a guy, built completely out of old repurposed tires.

Tire Man with some 'tiny' people...and their motorcycles

Some folks have seen this man, many have not.  He sits just back far enough from the road that folks could miss him if they weren't looking carefully...but when you do see him, you'll wonder how you ever missed him.  He blends-in very well if you're a bit away from him and not looking for him.  But up-close, he's a massive figure that just looks cool in this very green and rustic area.

The story goes that Tire Man was constructed by a man named JErry Fred Aron and was first seen here in 2006.  At one time, there was supposedly a Mississipi State Flag on a flagpole held in his raised hands.  That flag has since been removed, or even possibly just blown-away in the Mississipi winds, nobody is too sure about that nowadays.

There once were lights that supposedly were installed to illuminate this man, but all that remains of those elements are just some pieces and parts to the light-fixtures.

Tire man stands guard in this spot, day-in and day-out, always at his post, during sunshine and rain, waving to all those who would throw a gaze his way.

The horse...is real.

Hopefully he will remain here... a landmark in this sleepy little town in northern Mississippi... for many years to come... as a guardian of this landscape that he calls home.
