Geocache Description:

This letterbox-geocache hybrid was placed on January 1, 2014 by my son Brian and I.   Once I had hid it, he was my beta finder.  His quote was, we should come back and visit this cache someday.  Anyway, with the start of a new year, it seemed fitting to place a new cache.  I don’t think it’s overly difficult, and I hope you have fun finding it!
This is a letterbox cache to celebrate new beginnings!  When logging, please feel free to share new beginnings or new year’s resolutions!
A few things to note.   Do take note of your surroundings and watch for any dangerous wildlife and cactuses.  The letterbox-cache has a stamp, and if you’re inclined to mark your letterboxing book, please do!  The log may be able to accept your stamp if it’s small.  Due to space limitation in the container, please bring your own pen and inkpad.  Also, Mr. George Washington is awaiting the FTF ($1).

*****The cache is NOT!! at the starting coordinates!*****

The coordinates are not your target, unless you want to go to Target.

Start by finding a place in Moorpark, CA that shares the same name of the home of the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club.
Once you arrive, you will see a concrete sign that gives the name of your destination.  Behind the sign, circled by concrete, you will find a birch tree.  Set a waypoint on your GPS for the location of the tree. If you are inclined to learn about whom this place is named after, look at the plaque on the back of the concrete sign.
From the tree, go east with a heading of 38.5 degrees for about 117.5 smoots, where you will find a sign among cactuses that warns you of the dangerous Crotalus Atrox.
From this sign, you will see that there are three trail options.  Avoid the siren call serenading you to go downwards.  Do not go the direction of the path that takes you past the concrete tables.  Instead, travel the path that takes you the direction of the setting sun.
Travel along the trail for about 52 smoots until you come to a clearing. To the south there is a copse of trees. Straight ahead is a field of cactuses. In between the copse and the cactuses is a small trail. Follow the trail for 35 feet and there will be a large tree. Look carefully among the branches, and you will see the cache.
Please make sure to replace the cache snugly so that the container does not fall out of it’s spot!

Good luck!  Have fun!

Let’s go geocaching!

Happy new year!
