Ab dem 1. November 2013 wird ein Jahr lang jeden Monat ein Cache in der Gemeinde Uzwil gelegt. Es werden tendenziell familienfreundliche, Grössere, gut zugängliche und informative "Traditional Caches", "Multi-Caches", Mystery-Caches" und Bonus-Caches" versteckt. Auch kleinere Überraschungen dürfen nicht fehlen!
Wir platzieren vier verschiedene Caches über die Kreisel in Uzwil. Dazu wird dann ein Bonus-Cache gesetzt. Um diesen Bonus-Cache zu finden brauchst Du sämtliche Codes die in jedem der vier Caches zu finden sind. Notiere sie also, wenn Du den Bonus Cache heben möchtest.
Allein zwischen 2001 und anfangs 2006 wurden auf der alten Waldeggkreuzung 22 Unfälle mit 18 verunfallten und verletzten Personen registriert. Die Schweizerische Beratungsstelle für Unfallverhütung (bfu) bezifferte die sozialen Kosten dieser Unfälle auf über 2 Mio. Franken. Verschiedene Lösungsansätze wurden geprüft, schliesslich baute die Gemeinde 2009 den Waldegg-Kreisel. Die gut 700‘000 Franken waren gut investiertes Geld. Seither ists vorbei mit Unfällen. Ausserorts-Kreisel haben ihre Besonderheiten. Autos nähern sich ihnen zügig. Fahrzeuglenker müssen rechtzeitig weg von Tempo 80. Dazu hilft, wenn man den Kreisel von weitem sieht. Genau deshalb sind in diesem Kreiselauge Bäume gepflanzt. Und sie sind nachts beleuchtet, sind weit herum sichtbare Lichtbäume. Natürlich: Das bringt hin und wieder Kritik wegen „Lichtverschmutzung“. Damit kann die Gemeinde im Interesse der Sicherheit an diesem Ort leben. Das Kreiselinnere ist nach dem einheitlichen Uzwiler Konzept gestaltet. Architekt Hansruedi Wirth setzte hier am Waldegg-Kreisel bewusst auf Holz und Bäume. Eine Referenz an den historischen Flurnamen Waldegg.
Beginning 1 November 2013, one cache will be placed somewhere in the town of Uzwil each month for the duration of one year. Various caches will be hidden, particularly familyfriendly, larger and easy-to-find, informative traditional, mystery, bonus and multi-caches. You might even find an extra surprise!
Four different caches will be placed within the roundabouts in Uzwil in addition to a special bonus cache. To find the bonus cache, you need to collect all of the codes that are found in each of the four caches. So make sure to note down each of these codes if you want to find the bonus cache.
Between 2001 and 2006 alone, 22 accidents with 18 injuries were reported at the former Waldegg intersection. The Swiss Council for Accident Prevention (bfu) determined the social costs of these accidents to be over 2 million Swiss francs. After considering various possible solutions, the municipality built the Waldegg roundabout in 2009. The over 700 000 Swiss francs were well invested as no accidents have been reported since. Roundabouts in rural areas require special considerations. Cars approach them at much higher speeds. At 80 km an hour, a driver must decelerate quickly before entering the roundabout, and so visibility from a distance is very important. For this reason, trees have been planted in the area inside the Waldegg roundabout. The trees are lit at night making them clearly visible from far away. Although often criticized as being a source of "light pollution", the municipality feels the safety of drivers is of greater importance. Uzwil's common theme of designing roundabouts to correspond to their surroundings is also found in the Waldegg roundabout. The architect Hansruedi Wirth deliberately integrated wood and trees into the design as reference to the historic field name Waldegg, which contains the word wald, meaning 'forest'.
