This is the site of the earliest cemetery in the Wanaka region. Between 1860 and 1883 early settlers from the area were buried here. The number of graves is unsure as many were lost in the 1878 flood on the Clutha River or wooden headstones were lost in scrub fires. A group of local citizens gathers together remaining headstones and created this early settlers memorial A simple drive by cache in a peaceful setting above the Clutha River. The cache is a small pill container with log book only. BYOP.
