Geocache Description:

When it was first placed, 'Pirates Of The Nepean' (http://coord.info/GC10P7V) had a sister cache, 'Cataract Gorgeoous' (http://coord.info/GC10P7T). The later, however, was not as waterproof as the former, and had to be archived. Nearly seven years after placing it, it is time to bring it back.

The Cataract River is one of the feeder rivers for Sydney's water supply, and as such, the vast majority of the river is inaccessible. However, this small stretch of the river from the junction of the Nepean River is accessible.

So jump in your watercraft and come for a paddle. When I placed this cache the river was in better condition than I have ever seen it, and I have paddled around these parts for twenty years. The water was clear and clean. Even the surrounding banks were rubbish free. A lot of reeds have gone too, the river must have copped a good flush out of late.

Whilst you are here you might be close to civilisation, but it feels like you are miles from anywhere.

Do not try and take any overland route through private property, leave your car at Douglas Park Weir and paddle to the cache.
