Uzwiler 12/2013 Cache / Kreiselserie Nr.2 Traditional Cache

Ab dem 1. November 2013 wird ein Jahr lang jeden Monat ein Cache in der Gemeinde Uzwil gelegt. Es werden tendenziell familienfreundliche, Grössere, gut zugängliche und informative "Traditional Caches", "Multi-Caches", Mystery-Caches" und Bonus-Caches" versteckt. Auch kleinere Überraschungen dürfen nicht fehlen!

Wir platzieren vier verschiedene Caches über die Kreisel in Uzwil. Dazu wird dann ein Bonus-Cache gesetzt. Um diesen Bonus-Cache zu finden brauchst Du sämtliche Codes die in jedem der vier Caches zu finden sind. Notiere sie also, wenn Du den Bonus Cache heben möchtest.

Den Strassen ist nicht anzusehen, wem sie gehören. Am Kreisel kommen Kantons- und Gemeindestras­sen zusammen. Kantonstrasse ist die Gupfenstrasse vom Augarten her, sie setzt sich in Rich­tung Flawil fort. Gemeindestrassen sind die Sportstrasse Richtung Badi und die Gupfenstrasse Richtung Uzwil.

Anfangs der 1990er Jahre bauten Kanton und Ge­meinde diesen Kreisel. Er ersetzte eine komplexe und unfallträchtige Kreuzung. Erst später entstand das einheitliche Konzept, mit welchem Uzwil die Innen­räume der Kreisel gestaltet. Deshalb hat dieser Kreisel keine urbane Innengestaltung. Es sei denn, man betrachtet die Fahrspuren von kreativen Autofah­rern als solche. Denn: Hin und wieder neh­men Autos die Abkürzung. Bolzengerade durch das Kreiselauge. Und das geht ins Auge.

Die Idee, wie der Kreisel künftig heissen und ausse­hen könnte, ist vorhanden. Es wäre der Badikreisel. Ein grosses „B“ würde ihn auszeichnen, die Gestal­tung auf die nahe Badi hinweisen. Allerdings gibts der­zeit keinen Fahrplan dafür. Die Gestaltung ist erst dann ein Thema, wenn im Kreisel ohnehin grösser Un­terhaltsarbeiten anstehen.

Beginning 1 November 2013, one cache will be placed somewhere in the town of Uzwil each month for the duration of one year. Various caches will be hidden, particularly familyfriendly, larger and easy-to-find, informative traditional, mystery, bonus and multi-caches. You might even find an extra surprise!

Four different caches will be placed within the roundabouts in Uzwil in addition to a special bonus cache. To find the bonus cache, you need to collect all of the codes that are found in each of the four caches. So make sure to note down each of these codes if you want to find the bonus cache.

It is not possible to tell which roads belong to which authority. Roads from the Kanton and from the local district run through this roundabout. The Kanton is responsible for the Gupfenstrasse coming from the neighbourhood Augarten and the main road towards the town of Flawil. The local district roads are the Sportstrasse leading to the outdoor swimming facilities and the Gupfenstrasse in the direction towards Uzwil.

In the early nineties, the Kanton and local district built this roundabout as a solution to problems of the complicated and dangerous intersection that had been there before. It wasn't until later that the idea of a common theme was intergrated into the design within all other roundabouts in Uzwil. This is why there is no modern urban design found in this roundabout. Unless, of course you consider the tire tracks of creative drivers as an artistic touch. Because every so often, drivers take a short cut. Straight through the middle of the roundabout, ending up in a wreck.

An idea for how the roundabout could be named or what it could look like already exists. It would be the Badikreisel,  distinguished with a large letter "B" to stand for Badi, the Swiss expression for a public outdoor swimming pool. This would be a reference to the swimming facility located nearby. But currently there are no definitive plans. The new design will only then be an issue when maintenance to the roundabout becomes necessary.
