Geocache Description:

<Begin Twilight Zone music>

Fear of the unknown...  For some, it can be a debilitating condition – for others, it’s a challenge to be overcome.  Which will it be for you?  This cache is patterned off of blandestbee’s “The Mysterious Month Challenge” (GC344WZ).

*For my fellow Crossroads of America Scouts and Scouters, this cache has NOTHING to do with the Firecrafter program.

Unknown-type caches can be some of the most overlooked cache types to be found on the map.  It’s not uncommon to find that a puzzle or challenge cache hasn’t been visited in six months or more.  Some are so challenging they go more than a year before being found for the first time.  Others are easy enough to solve with just a few minutes of thought and some common sense.  I’ve created the following challenge cache to encourage more of you to visit the puzzle caches in your area and to help recognize those of you who are puzzleheads, are looking for something new to challenge your geocaching abilities, or are just plain stubborn.  Nothing so simple as just accumulating 50, 100, or 1000 unknown caches over an extended period of time – all you need are 31…..

To log this cache, you need to log at least one unknown-type cache each day for 31 consecutive days.

OK, here are the details:

  1. Log an unknown-type cache daily for at least 31 consecutive days.  You can’t wimp out and use February as your month because it only has 28 days!
  2. You do NOT have to start this on the first of the month.  I began this challenge on October 26th and finished on November 25th.
  3. Any type of unknown cache will qualify: puzzle, challenges, they’re all good!
  4. A word (or seven) to the wise: proper prior planning prevents pitifully poor performance.
  5. Create a bookmark list of your qualifying cache streak, including date found.  I’ve included my list as an example.  Include this cache as the 32nd on your list.  It cannot be counted as one of your 31-day unknown cache streak finds.
  6. You MUST sign the log sheet in the cache container.  You didn’t think that this challenge would finish with just a simple “go there, find it, sign the log” cache did you? Solve the puzzle below to determine the correct cache coordinates.  Don’t worry, you’ve done the hard part already – I’m not going to put a huge roadblock in your way at this stage of the game. smiley

N Delta Juliet    Juliet Juliet.Charlie Juliet Delta

W Hotel Foxtrot    Bravo Hotel.Foxtrot Hotel Echo

Container is a small lock ‘n lock.  There is one of each of my tags for the first to find.  I’ve also filled the container with eraser puzzles – thought that would be appropriate SWAG for this cache.

<Legal Quick-Speak> 14-digit checksum is 54.  Beware of squirrels!  The cache is located in a Lebanon city park/arboretum.  Park hours are between sun-up and sun-down.  Any cache logs indicating a find outside of daylight hours will be summarily deleted without notice. CITO policies, as always, are in effect for this cache.  Your results may vary.  Offer void on the continent of Atlantis. See cache page for details.

Congratulations to go-purdue on the FTF!
