Canada de Los Alamos, meaning a ravine with cottonwoods, is named after the grant given to Lorenzo Marques in 1785. The grant extended as far south as where El Dorado is now located.
Presently, this is a suburban residential area near Santa Fe in the pinon covered foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Canada de Los Alamos is at the head of the arroyo of the same name. There is no record of a post office located here.
This cache is dedicated to the pioneers and families buried here who helped establish this community. Your volunteer support as a cacher is solicited to place a "Spirit" cache at or near a cemetery of your choosing.
