The 2013 Capitol Christmas Tree, also known as the “People’s Tree,” comes from the northeastern corner of Washington State in Colville National Forest of Pend Oreille County. The 88-foot tall, 32-inch diameter, Englemann spruce will grace the Capitol West Lawn; a reminder of the great gifts that come from our National Forests.
This special tree will travel nearly four thousand miles and stop at dozens of events across the country before being displayed in Washington, D.C. This is the 49th year of this tradition and the second time Washington State has provided a tree.
The published coordinates will take you to all that remains of this once living tree, its stump. Stand on the stump and take a bearing 10 degrees from North. Walk this bearing approximately 220 feet to find the cache.
