How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Old Harry And His Old Aunt     love the countryside, the local poetry and the folklore. They also enjoy stopping by some of the atmospheric hotels and inns dotted around this lovely area. Follow their example as you trace their steps on this 2.50 Km jaunt filled with fun, frolics, laughter and delight.

This multi is a D/T 5/1 job (Old Harry And His Old Aunt are both 51 as you possibly might know), the only one of its kind twixt Castle Hill and Farnley Tyas. It might help you complete an odd corner of your caching grid.

Mnemonics, a piece of paper and a smartphone will help you. It could take up to a couple of hours to complete this cache so, if you're looking to get your caching numbers up, you could have a go at Encuentro's Autumn Equinox series around Castle Hill and environs and then come back to this another time.

There's lots of room for trackables, swops, change of clothing if wet etc.

Much of the area is farmland so please ONLY use public rights of way and footpaths throughout, thanks. Start at the above coordinates and then toddle off westwards and clockwise to your first stay.

1. The Post House Hotel

This is 295 metres away at an angle of 13.50 degrees to the road (Honley Road). Enjoy your stay there where you will find a further clue to your next hotel. You're heading for Sheesham Lock Hotel. Please leave everything in the container as found.

2. Sheesham Lock Hotel

Lovely spot with fine views of Castle Hill. Here the local poets sometimes leave samples of their work. But where next? Please leave everything in the container as found.

3. Sea Shells Hotel

Just limeing. I think. A barrel of laughs this one! Please leave everything in the container as found.

4. Parangaricutirimicuaro

Bit of a tongue twister this is, even for the local Mexicans who have lived here forever. More details Click here

Confirmation of your reservation for your final stay, and the highlight of your trip at the Cork Hilton, is to be found here. Please leave everything in the container as found.

5. Quip and Riddle

On your way from Parangaricutirimicuaro to the Cork Hilton, why not stop off for a drink and a laugh at this famous old wayside tavern? You'll find details of your room number which you will need for check-in. Please leave everything in the container as found.

The Cork Hilton

Luxury at last! Please remember to sign the visitors' book. Also, when you leave, put the key in another pigeon hole for the next guest to find. You'll get the idea at check-in!
