A sign at the eastern end of the road reads
For over two thousand years the track here between the hedgerows was an important route across Scotland. Many famous historical personages have links with this path. It was first surfaced with clay by the Romans and even in the 18th century cattle drovers stilled called it “The Auld Cley Road”.
Its Roman name comes from the local commander Flavius, who laid it.
This cache is one of several we’ve hidden in or near Cumbernauld Community Park. They’re all reached from well-maintained paths, with the final 10-20m being rougher going. Why not link up the caches and enjoy a walk through this huge green space right in the middle of town?
