The railway station at Tatong was about one kilometre west of the township, and is marked by a replica station sign, clearly visible as you arrive in the town's environs. This is on private land. As this was the terminus of the rail line, the engineering works at this point included a turn-table so that the steam locomotive could be spun around for the return journey. The commemorative display is closer to the town.
From 1914 to 1947 the Tatong branch railway ran from Benalla to Tatong via Karn, Lima and Mallum.
After fading into the landscape for over 60 years the Tatong Railway Precinct was unveiled on the 11 March 2006 at the four station sites.
Please use some discretion here as the display is quite close to a private driveway.
The cache container is micro in size. It contains a log sheet only. Please bring your own PEN.
