In order to start this beautiful hiking journey through Vouraikos Gorge you have to take the cog railway from Diakofto or Kalavrita to Kato Zachlorou. You can find the timetables for the cog railway here. The hiking path from Kato Zachlorou to Daikofto is 12,6km.The hiking lasts 4 - 5 hours, depending on the hiking pace, intermediate stops etc. Througout the whole journey you can follow the railway path in order to reach the final destination of Diakofto. Please note that the GPS coordinates listed for this cache ARE NOT accurate because the GPS signal inside the gorge is very weak (they are only provided to give a general idea of where the cache is located). The cache is hidden beside the raiway track, at 7,6km from the destination (there are distance signs along the path). At this beautiful location, during summertime, you can also enjoy a nice swim inside the Vouraikos river, in a place with small 'waterfalls' and 'ponds'. Important notice: Please beware of the incoming trains! You can check the timetables and keeping in mind that the train journey from Diakofto to Kato Zachlorou lasts about 45min you can have a rough estimation of when the train is approaching. In general the train drivers are aware for hikers but to be on the safe side choose a spacious place when the train is approaching!
