Geocache Description:

The cache is more or less at the posted coordinates. Whilst it’s a bit tricky to get a good GPS lock amongst large rocks and dense scrub the find should still be fairly straight forward.

Step 1 – Find the Rock Art (waypoint given)
Step 2 – Go around to the back of it then as at 2021 keep going, up a bit, then a little further
Step 3 – Find cache in and under rocks

There used to be a cache here and it’s a nice spot for morning tea if you are heading further afield, or perhaps a good spot to turn around if you aren’t. Typical of Aboriginal sites in the area you are looking for a large granite outcrop with an under-cut. Researchers believe this particular site could be over 800 years old.

From the listed carpark, follow the track for around 4.5km of easy walking through the valley before leaving the trail for a quick, sharp 350m bush-bash up-hill to GZ.

There also used to be a maintained trail to the rock shelter although this has been lost to the encroaching vegetation and bush-fires however signage, also bush-fire damaged, can still be found. The cache is a little further up the hill.

Please respect Aboriginal heritage sites and objects. It is an offence to damage, disturb or destroy Aboriginal heritage places and objects. Make sure that you do not touch the art or the rock surface as oils from your skin will damage the painting.
