Troll Bridge: Proceed With Caution! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

onecrazycanadian: Hi,

This cache has been in need of maintenance for an extended period of time. Due to the lack of response toward the needed maintenance since my last contact, I am archiving the cache. If you do happen to complete the maintenance required and wish to activate the cache again just let me know and I will consider unarchiving it once the issue is resolved.

Thanks!

Geocache Description:

This cache is located on the north side of the TransCanada Highway.  If accessing from the highway, both eastbound and westbound traffic can take the Petrolia Rd exit (at the Esso) to get off of the highway and have easy access to the road leading to the cache.

When the first settlers arrived in Moose Jaw in the late 1800's, they were completely unaware this area was densely inhabited by trolls.  Attracted by the abundance of water supply and natural protection of the valley, the people chose to make this their home.  It didn't take long for them to realize something wasn't quite right here.  Strange noises were heard during the night and the animals became skittish and frightened.  Eventually, citizens started to go missing.  Fear spread like wildfire and rumours travelled to the surrounding communities.  It was difficult to attract new settlers and trading partners.  When the scouts came to survey the land for the railroad, the people of Moose Jaw saw this as a great opportunity.  But before, the Canadian Pacific Railway could continue across this land, the troll problem had to be dealt with.  Soldiers moved in to help exterminate the trolls.  However, some of the trolls escaped and hid just outside of town.  The city was desperate to change its image so the people started calling it "The Friendly City" and it once again continued to prosper.

The remaining trolls kept to themselves for the most part unless disturbed by lone travellers.  The troll protecting this cache is one of the last trolls in the area.  Please be very careful and proceed with extreme caution if you are brave enought to go searching for this one.
